We had the privilege of meeting Amy back when she still provided in-home speech services and was just starting The Shandy Clinic. Our family was brand new to the world of special needs, and Amy was an integral part in helping us establish the solid foundation upon which our son built his growth and development. Not only was she top-notch in her abilities as a therapist, but also in her ability to work with our family holistically. Amy carefully offered advice and recommendations that benefited the development of our other children, and provided therapeutic education that allowed us to better support our child in the home environment as well as foster our own budding advocacy skills.

Most importantly, Amy integrated our shared values into treatment and set high expectations for our son’s success – not just in his speech and language development, but also in his character. This was pivotal to the mindset we carried forward in our approach to parenting an exceptional child. It was evident she sincerely cared about our son as a person first, and a patient second. Amy continually collaborated with us on setting goals for treatment, always respecting our viewpoints. She tactfully used her expertise to guide and give a healthy “push” when needed, always underscored by her compassion and commitment to our child’s continual growth and progress. Long after military service took us away from Colorado, Amy continued to remain invested in our son’s success. We were kept informed of research opportunities and new avenues of treatment, which demonstrated her continued professional growth and commitment to evidence-based treatment and informed practice. She celebrated wholeheartedly, albeit from afar, when our son graduated high school and started college. Amy is a true champion for exceptional children, and we are confident in her ability to take the same characteristics of respect, discernment, and intentionality she showed in her work with our family and leverage them to successfully problem solve and advocate for ALL students in her purview as a D20 School Board member.

Amy has a passion to see every District 20 student thrive and excel. She is also committed to the standards and values that would result in our schools flourishing. She would be a strong, insightful, and unifying member of the D20 School Board.

I had the privilege to work with Amy for many years as a Speech Language Pathologist. Amy led her team with a growth mindset, facilitated healthy team dynamics, and encouraged us to do all we could to reach our full potential. She fostered an environment of support and compassion, not only for her team, but also for the families we served. Amy and her team helped shape me into the SLP I am today, and I’m forever grateful for her leadership and mentorship.

As a mother of two Academy District 20 students, it is important to me that our school board members protect parental rights and advocate for the safety of our children in our schools. I trust Amy Shandy to make the hard decisions that affect my family and yours and support her for Academy District 20 school board.

The Honorable Rose Pugliese
Colorado House District 14, Assistant Minority Leader

Amy Shandy dedicated much of her career to helping children develop their full potential to learn. Her education, training and leadership uniquely qualifies her to help lead District 20 toward improved academic outcomes and opportunities for every student.

The Honorable Bill Cadman
Former President, Colorado Senate

What impresses me the most about Amy Shandy is her commitment to helping children reach their full potential. As a speech pathologist, she has helped hundreds of students improve their lives. As a successful business woman, she founded a company that grew to become one of the largest privately owned outpatient pediatric clinics in the country. Amy is a D20 parent and wants all D20 students to receive the same excellent education that her children received. Amy is very concerned about the recent D20 test scores showing 39% of students are not proficient in reading and 53% are not proficient in math. Amy’s passion and proven capabilities are what we need to further propel D20’s commitment to academic excellence. Join me in voting for Amy Shandy for D20 School Board.
